Car AC Regassing & Servicing
Car AC regassing is the process of removing old refrigerant from your air conditioning system and replacing it with fresh, correctly measured refrigerant and lubricant — restoring performance and protecting your system.
???? Key Benefits
- Ice‑cold air: Restores full cooling power
- Better fuel efficiency: Reduces engine load, saving you money
- Longer system life: Prevents costly compressor damage or failure
- Faster demisting: Clears fogged windscreens quickly for safer driving
- Improved air quality: Removes bacteria, mould, and unpleasant odours
???? Signs Your AC Needs a Regas
Book a service if you notice any of these issues:
- Air from vents is warm or lukewarm, even on the coldest setting
- Airflow feels weak or not as cold as it used to
- Musty, damp, or chemical smells when the AC is running
- Compressor cycles on and off constantly or runs continuously without cooling
????️ What Happens During a Service?
A professional AC service takes approximately 45–60 minutes and follows these steps:
System Diagnostic → Refrigerant Recovery → Vacuum Leak Test → Recharge & Lubrication
- Leak Inspection: Check for cracks, damage, or weak points in hoses and components
- Evacuation: Old gas, moisture, and impurities are fully removed
- Recharging: Fresh, vehicle‑specific refrigerant (R134a or R1234yf) is added to the exact level
- Lubrication: Special oil is added to keep the compressor running smoothly
- Sanitisation: Anti‑bacterial treatment cleans internal vents and ducts

⏱️ How Often Should You Service It?
Most manufacturers recommend servicing and Regassing every 2 years.
Even with normal use, systems naturally lose 10–15% of refrigerant per year through rubber hoses and seals. To keep it in good condition:
- Run the AC for at least 10 minutes every week — even in winter
- This keeps seals lubricated and helps prevent leaks
